FAQs

Bubble hash is a type of cannabis concentrate that is made by separating trichome heads from plant material using ice, water, and a series of mesh sieve bags known as bubble, hash, or filter bags. It's called "bubble hash" because it can bubble when exposed to flame.

  • Purity: No solvents or chemicals involved.
  • Potency: Highly concentrated trichomes provide a significant effect.
  • Versatility: Perfect for smoking, vaping, or infusing.

Yes, you can create 6-Star hash with our washer. Creating 6-star full melt hash—a grade that bubbles and fully melts when heated—takes practice and patience. Don’t be discouraged by early attempts; skill comes with time.

You don't need much to get started. Here are the basic components for a wash:

  • Filter bags with different micron sizes
  • Ice cubes and cold water
  • Buckets or containers
  • Stirring tool, paddle, or wash system
  • Collection screens and a drying surface

You can make hash with just a couple of five gallon buckets, filter bags, and a mixing spoon. Most hash making products including ours solve various workflow problems and create consistency in your final product.

1. Preparation:

  • Freeze your plant material to preserve trichomes.
  • Prepare ice water in a bucket to keep temperatures low.

2. Agitation:

  • Add plant material and ice water to your washer
  • Stir gently to separate trichomes from the plant matter.

3. Filtration:

  • Pour the mixture through bubble bags, starting with larger microns and working down to finer ones.
  • Collect trichomes on each bag’s screen.

4. Drying:

  • Pat the collected hash dry and spread it thinly on parchment paper.
  • Allow it to air dry completely to prevent mold.

The filter bags contain different micron screens that filter the plant material as the ice and water mixture is agitated. You'll start with the largest micron bag and work your way down to the smallest. Agitation helps separate the trichome heads from the plant material, which are then captured on the screens as filtrate.

Filter bags typically come in a set ranging from 25 microns to 220 microns. The micron size refers to the size of the openings in the mesh:

  • Larger micron bags (e.g., 220, 160) capture larger plant material.
  • Mid-range micron bags (e.g., 120, 90) filter out medium-sized trichomes.
  • Smaller micron bags (e.g., 73, 25) collect the smallest-sized trichomes.

After collecting the trichomes from the screens:

  • Spread the hash thinly and evenly onto a drying screen or parchment paper in a cool, dark area.
  • Mix occasionally to allow even drying and prevent mold. Usually, several days are required, depending on ambient humidity.
  • A Freeze Dryer can be used to preserve quality, and for faster drying times.

Several factors can influence quality:

  • Starting material: Cannabis that's fresh and full of trichomes will yield better results. Trichome structure will also play a role.
  • Technique: Gentle agitation preserves trichome integrity
  • Separation: Properly layered bubble bags provide finer separation of impurities
